The rules for using Ghumooz — how bookings work, when organizers are paid, how cancellations and refunds are handled, and what each side is responsible for.

1.Who we are, and what Ghumooz is

Ghumooz is a marketplace. Independent trip organizers list group departures; travelers browse and book them. We operate the platform, hold booking payments until settlement, and settle organizers — but we do not operate the trips themselves.

The organizer is the provider of your trip. The itinerary, the transport, the accommodation, the guides and the on-ground conduct of the departure are theirs. Where these terms talk about what happens on a trip, the organizer is the party responsible for it.

By creating an account, booking a trip, or listing a trip, you agree to these terms. If you are booking on behalf of other travelers, you confirm you have their authority to do so and to share their details with us and with the organizer.

2.Your account

You need an account to book. You must be at least 18 to hold one, give accurate details, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used fraudulently, that is abusive toward other travelers, organizers or staff, or that repeatedly breaks these terms. Where we do, we will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.

3.Booking a trip

A booking is confirmed when your payment is successfully collected and seats are assigned to you. Until then, seats you are part-way through booking are held only temporarily — if you do not complete checkout, they are released back to the trip for someone else.

Prices shown include the amounts stated at checkout. Some trips take a deposit up front with a balance due before departure; where that applies, the amounts and the due date are shown before you pay.

Organizers set their own trip details and may need to change them. If an organizer materially changes a departure you have booked — the dates, the route, or the price — we will notify you, and you may cancel for a full refund of what you have paid if the change is not acceptable to you.

4.Payments and how they are held

Card and UPI details are handled by an RBI-authorised payment gateway — currently Razorpay or Cashfree — and never reach Ghumooz. Which one carries a given payment depends on the method you choose and on availability at the time.

The organizer is not paid when you book. Payments are processed through our payment partners. Organizer payments follow the applicable settlement terms. Booking online does not create a separate escrow account held by Ghumooz for you. Refund rights are described in the Cancellation and Refund Policy. In practice that means the money to refund you has not left Ghumooz while your trip is still ahead of you: organizers are settled only after the trip has started, not at the moment you pay.

All amounts are in Indian Rupees unless stated otherwise. Your bank or card issuer may add its own charges, particularly for international cards; those are between you and them.

5.Cancellations and refunds

Every trip shows its cancellation terms as dates, before you pay. Organizers set refund tiers based on how far ahead of departure you cancel, and we translate those into actual calendar dates on the trip page, so you can see what you would get back and until when.

The tier that applies is the one in effect at the moment you cancel. Refunds are returned to the original payment method; how quickly they appear depends on your bank, and is typically several working days after we release them.

If the organizer cancels a departure, you receive a full refund of what you have paid, regardless of the tiers above.

If something goes wrong on a trip and you believe you are owed a refund, raise a support ticket. We review these case by case, and because the organizer is not settled until after your trip is completed we are usually in a position to act on the outcome.

6.On the trip

Group travel only works if everyone can rely on everyone else. You are expected to follow the organizer's and the trip captain's reasonable safety instructions, to travel with the documents the trip requires, and to treat other travelers with respect.

Organizers may remove a traveler from a departure for conduct that endangers or seriously disrupts the group. This is a last resort and does not by itself entitle the removed traveler to a refund.

Travel insurance is your responsibility. We strongly recommend it. Holding your payment protects the money you paid us; it does not cover medical costs, missed connections, or lost belongings.

7.Identity verification

Many trips require us or the organizer to verify each traveler's identity — because transport and accommodation providers require it, and because it is what makes a group of strangers safe to put together.

Where a trip requires it, you will be asked to upload a government-issued ID. What we do with that document, how long we keep it, and who can see it is set out in the Privacy Policy.

8.If you list trips (organizers)

These additional terms apply to organizer accounts:

  • You must have the legal right and any licences required to run the trips you list, and your listings must accurately describe what a traveler will actually get.
  • You are the provider of the trip and are responsible for delivering it, for the safety of your travelers, and for the conduct of your staff and captains.
  • Settlement: we deduct the platform commission and any applicable taxes, and pay the balance to your verified payout account only after the trip has started. Your earnings, the deductions and the settlement status are visible in your dashboard.
  • You are responsible for your own tax position, including GST where it applies to you. We issue the tax documents the platform is required to issue; that is not tax advice.
  • Traveler personal data reaches you so that you can run the trip. You may use it for that, and not for anything else — no marketing to travelers who did not opt in, and no sharing outside your trip operations.
  • Repeatedly cancelling departures, misrepresenting trips, or failing to deliver what was sold can result in withheld settlement pending investigation, and removal from the platform.

9.Content you post

Reviews, photos, chat messages and trip listings are yours. By posting them you give us permission to host and display them on the platform for the purpose of running it — for reviews and trip photos, that includes showing them publicly alongside the relevant trip or organizer.

Do not post anything unlawful, misleading, or that infringes someone else's rights, and do not post other people's personal details. We may remove content that breaks this rule.

Reviews must reflect a genuine experience of a trip you actually took.

10.Our responsibility, and its limits

We are responsible for operating the platform: taking your payment correctly, holding it until settlement as described, applying the cancellation terms as shown, and settling organizers accurately. Where we get those wrong, we will put them right.

We are not the trip operator. We do not accept responsibility for the conduct or performance of an organizer beyond the payment-hold and refund protections described in these terms.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking.

This limitation, and the description of our role as an intermediary above, are under legal review. Nothing in it affects rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

11.Changes, disputes and governing law

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will give notice before it takes effect. The terms that apply to a booking are the ones in force when you made it.

If something goes wrong, start with a support ticket — most issues are resolved there, and it gives us the record we need to act. Complaints that are not resolved can be escalated to ourGrievance Officer, Manish Tondwal, Head of Trust & Safety, at manish@ghumooz.com or 9136729919 (Monday to Friday, 09:00-18:00 IST). We acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month of receipt, as the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 require.

Our registered office is Ghumooz Private Limited, A-4 Tirupati Vihar, Patrakar Colony Road, Golyawas, Mansarovar, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302020 (CIN UNSET-DEV-CIN).

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Jaipur have exclusive jurisdiction.
