How we rank and recommend trips
Under rule 6 of the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 we publish the main parameters that decide the order you see trips in, and how important each one is. We do not accept payment for a higher position in search results or on the home page.
- 1
What you searched for
Most importantDestination, dates, starting city and any filters you set. A trip that does not match what you asked for is not shown, whatever else is true about it.
- 2
Departure date
HighTrips departing sooner appear before trips departing later within the same match.
- 3
Availability
HighTrips with no seats left are ranked below trips you can actually book.
- 4
Traveller ratings
MediumThe average rating of the operator across their completed trips, and how many reviews it rests on. A high score from very few reviews carries less weight than the same score from many.
- 5
Completed trips
MediumHow many trips the operator has actually run on Ghumooz, as opposed to listed.
- 6
Listing completeness
LowTrips with a full itinerary, photographs and stated inclusions rank above sparse listings for the same search.
Differentiated treatment of sellers
- A "Verified" badge is granted by Ghumooz after we have checked an operator's registration documents. It is not for sale and it does not change ranking; it is displayed so you know what we have checked.
- A "Top rated" badge is applied automatically from ratings and review count, using one threshold that is the same for every operator.
- Operators on our paid Premium plan get additional tools for running their own trips — customer messaging, automations, reporting. Those tools do not affect where their trips appear in your search results.
- A "Premium host" badge means the operator subscribes to our paid Premium plan; it is not a quality or verification signal and it does not affect ranking.
- We do not favour any operator in which Ghumooz or its officers hold an interest, and Ghumooz does not itself sell trips on this marketplace.
